Post-OSEP Day 32: 04 February, Tuesday

Work was full of surprises today!!!

Started work at 6am so I woke up at 4.30am and taxi was here at 5am. Reached Shang at 5.40am and I was feeling a little groggy from the car ride (I always fall asleep during car rides) so I wanted to catch some sleep before reporting for work but I couldn't really sleep so I dropped the whole idea. Haha.

Working with Josephine, Jennifer and Celestine this morning! Heard that morning would be busy (again just like Sunday) so I was ready to brace myself hahaha. I enjoyed my company this morning very much!

At about 7.45am, Boss came down to The Line and grabbed me and told me that he has a problem which only I can solve. I was laughing and asking him what was the problem. Apparently the two staff scheduled for Lobby Court at 7am did not turn up after like an hour (it was almost 8am) so Lobby Court was not open for almost an hour. Guests were streaming in so boss asked me to help out along with Faizal. The problem was that everything was locked up (menus, cutlery, trays and back kitchen) so Faizal and I practically had access to nothing. I had to go to the trouble to get everything from The Line.

It was my first time working in Lobby Court and I was a little bit uncomfortable with working there because all the tables are pretty low (and I am pretty tall xD) so it was a little difficult to lower stuff onto the table.

When Tai Fung came at 8+ she did all the opening by herself while I helped her handle the guests. I asked her how do they usually serve the guests and she told me they usually kneel down to make it easier. But she said I didn't need to. I still tried it in the end and it was indeed more effective. Plus, I was clad in The Line GRO uniform which was a dress above knee, so I had to kneel down properly so that I would look "glamorous". I know kneeling down to guests may seem like putting your ego down for some people, but I personally quite like the feeling of it. Its courtesy for guests.

When I went to The Line to pick up toast for the Lobby Court guests, I saw Sophia going crazy at the barista with a long queue waiting for her so I decided to help her. I informed Byran and he was okay with it but Boss stopped me because he wants two staff at Lobby Court. So I waited until another staff came at Lobby Court staff arrived before I rushed down to help Sophia!

Helped her until breakfast ended at 10.30am while she stock up her barista. Was about to close when Byran came to ask me to continue service. Arghhh. So I stayed in the barista until she came back before I went to the office to look for Yeehong (to ask her whether I can stay for lunch) and Belinda (to ask her about training details) and I met Honeylyn and Byran. So we had a discussion in the office (with Celestine too) about issues regarding my new position. Still many issues to be discussed.

So at about 12pm Honeylyn suggested that we two go for lunch break before continuing on training. While I was enjoying my milo ice cream for lunch, boss called me and told me to change into Rose Veranda uniform because they needed staff and I was the one that he thought of and someone he could trust. Thanks boss for trusting me so much and giving me never ending opportunities, sincere thanks.

He wanted me to be there immediately so I asked him whether I could have ten minutes because I was having my lunch. "No ten minutes, five minutes. I want to see you there in five minutes."

My 14th uniform :)
So I didn't manage to finish up my ice cream (and I am sad) and I rushed up to Rose Veranda asap. Adapted pretty quickly (I feel) and thankful to have nice people there to help me! Thank you to Gena, Lina and the other RV staff who guided me along during that three hours. I am also extremely glad to be able to see two very familiar faces in the kitchen, Ah Haur and Jason!!! From The Line to Rose Veranda, we did come very far didn't we? Hahaha.

Boss popped by at some point in time and said he was right when he said I'd look good in that cheongsam (aww I'm flattered) and that it was a right decision to put me there. He asked if I wanna consider working full-time at RV because there is only one shift (11.30am-6pm) and I don't have to wake up early or stay back late (which does sound pretty good). He then opened an even more attractive offer to me.

"I tell you what. You take your time to decide which outlet you wanna work in, what position, and which shift you prefer, I'll let you have your way if you sign full-time." I was definitely shocked by this offer that boss gave me (by the super flexible terms) so I was literally staring at him with my jaws open. He then continued, "How many people do you think have gotten this offer from me? None!" Yes boss I'm thankful for the opportunities you've given me (very very grateful) but I really need to think through whether its what I want. I told him I would consider it serirosuly but he told me, "no! You don't consider. You agree to it." Hahaha. I didn't agree yet.

RV manager let me off at 3pm and I went to collect my pay and spoke to Dennis from HR about the full time position he offered me earlier and passed him my resume as well. So to sum up, I've a few full time offers from Shang already.

1. The Line Hostess (GRO)
2. Buffet Ambassaor (The Line)
3. Front Office Secretary
4. Sales Coordinator
5. Full-time Outlet Staff

I really cannot decide but anyway I've submitted my application for option 4 and been through Round One interview. May the odds be in my favour!!!

$0.20???
Cabbed home with Jacelin and Sophia because we all were heading to Yishun and we ended up paying only $5 per person :P Jacelin went home for dinner so Sophia and I went to have chicken rice for dinner at 925!!

Never ending chats with her about work stuff and all. Need to catch up with her more often!!

6am tomorrow again. Nights people.
